PROJECTS
Candor, in Catalan, means the absence of malice, the sincerity of someone with nothing to hide. It is also the title of the project led by Catalan saxophonist Pau Albir Casares, who presents a concert of original compositions for jazz quartet. A body of work where roots and modern influences converge within a wide and rich sonic universe.

The concept of Candor revolves around the search for an authentic voice through collective and sincere exploration. The pieces that make up this project not only reflect a personal and mature compositional style, but also a clear commitment to listening, interaction, and the joint construction of sound as an expressive vehicle. On this journey, the quartet moves as a single voice—with intention and complicity—echoing the bebop of the 1940s, the hip hop of the 1980s, and the jazz of the past two decades, all interwoven with the deep roots of the drum: the African heritage that keeps us connected to the origin.

This is music that doesn’t seek effect, but connection. A sonic journey made of shared glances, common roots, and open paths.

The quartet, based in Amsterdam, is made up of Galician double bassist Álvaro Orcajo, Californian pianist Kai Spatzier, French drummer Gabriel Apostolidis, and Catalan saxophonist Pau Albir.

Buru means "head" in Basque and titles the first tune of Candor.

ORONOS is a jazz septet born in Barcelona, the result of a creative meeting between musicians trained in the city's top conservatories: Taller de Músics, ESMUC, and Liceu.
The group’s artistic vision starts from a fundamental premise: sound.
How is it generated? What impact does it have on us? How can we express emotion through sound?
These are the questions that drive the compositions of Pau Albir, who explores music as a vehicle for perception and introspection.

The name Oronos is an anagram of the word Sonoro (“sonorous”), and evokes the contemplation of sound in its purest and most essential form.
With influences from artists like Miguel Zenón, Or Bareket, Joel Ross, and Immanuel Wilkins, the sound of ORONOS is built from a contemporary vision that blends lyricism, harmonic density, and a strong rhythmic and collective dimension—all deeply rooted in the tradition.
The septet is composed of Itziar Mendibil on tenor sax, Ana Ayala on flute, Sara Lilu on vocals, Nacho Sauri on drums, Antoni Casellas on piano, Xavi Veres on double bass, and Pau Albir on alto saxophone and composition.
